The Fairfax Gallery Tunbridge Wells was founded on the Lower Walk of the Pantiles in 1995

The Gallery's listed building provides a striking juxtaposition with the contemporary art exhibited and its success has led to two sister galleries openning in Burnham Market & Holt, Norfolk.

The Pantiles gallery exhibits original paintings and sculpture from established, award-winning & emerging talent of a standard rarely seen out of London. The spacious gallery holds over 100 paintings and sculpture on display or in stock, all paintings being original works created by the artist, rather than editions on canvas.

Whilst the gallery exhibits strong examples of both contemporary figurative and abstract work it has developed a recognisable style that has earned it a loyal following over 19 years .We work closely with a carefully selected group of artist who we feel are really strong in their particular genre and many have ongoing success with awards and crtics.
The Pantiles gallery exhibits Landscapes Paintings,  Abstract Paintings and Figure Paintings The gallery also displays Sculpture in Bronze and other media sutable for the home or Garden Sculpture

The achievement of the gallery prompted 'Galleries magazine' to write that it is 'clear why they have been so successful'. The gallery also exhibits at  Major UK art fairs such as the London Art Fair - Affordable Art Fair &  Singapore Art Fair & Hong Hong Art Fair. This enables us to 'fly the flag' for British artists as well as bringing back some strong examples of overseas talent to our UK galleries.

The Pantiles Fairfax Gallery opens 7 days a week (subject to events) and a great place to see art in Tunbridge Wells.

The gallery offers an experienced service, advising clients about potential art acquistions. Adam Hargreaves has taken his new paintings to another level with his affinity for the British Landscape ever present. Whilst Adam still finds time to write and illustrate the Mr Men books, his oil paintings are now firmly established as something highly desirable and collectable.

Adam continues to evolve an individual style which while avoiding purely topographical depictions; he captures the real essence of the British Landscape. The depth and light in Adam compositions are alluring, the viewer often feels a familiarity with the scene., provoking a happy memory of somewhere once visited.

Jack Frame describes himself as 'magpie' in his approach to his art, Frame is also a romantic in the way he engages his artistic sensibility – always striving to strip away the heaviness of a scene, be it in a landscape or figurative painting.“I guess in the way Rembrandt kept returning to self-portrait as a means to charting the passage of time, I keep going back to trees as a way of understanding the world", Jack Frame still in his 20’s has continued from the success of his sell out degree show at the Glasgow School of Art , having exhibited success in three continents

Beverley Rouwen is inspired by nature and in particular woods. ‘I let my mind wander. A wood is the keeper of secrets where affairs have been started, relationships ended and the gossip rife. Yet there is beauty, serenity and quiet. A  façade. I love the paradox. When I walk through a wood my mind is opened and there is focus, intimacy and I really think it is my place for healing and my place for ideas. Through my paintings I interpret images seen and moments felt recalling conversations situations and feelings experienced on a walk. I play with mood and emotion, striving for balance. I love to feel the paint and canvas with my hands – scratching and making marks, giving texture and life to my painting. I paint my walks on canvas and each piece of work is a different experience.

The Pantiles is an historic shopping area of Tunbridge Wells, believed to be the earliest of its type in Europe
The area is famous for its natural spring waters and Beau Nash who kept standards high in 1735 at a time when the collenade was frequented by the most prestigious London retailers, who in turn helped make the area the 'must visit' destination of its time. The Fairfax gallery is one of the longest established businesses on the Pantiles and the gallery offers a glimse of a time when the Pantiles was occupied by shops that wished to provide the highest standards of the land.

The gallery offers its venue for hire for select events in Tunbridge Wells, please click for further details.
