Horse Riding Ashdown Forest 51 x 46 cm As Evening Approaches, Ashdown 61 x 56 cm September on Ashdown 71 x 61 cm

I have been privileged to work with David Akins since our opening Exhibition in 1995, closely following his success with critics and collectors alike over the years. Davidís confident painterly use of oils marks him out as an artist with a future as vibrant as his paintings.

There is as light chill in the air as the first signs of autumn appear on the Ashdown Forest. A late September Sky lights this ancient, tranquil landscape, in patches as it gently moves across the Sussex countryside. My palette contrasts silver greys with the warm tones of umbers. ochreís and deep crimsons. Splashes of pure colour mirrors the land as shafts of majestic light illuminate it.
I work with haste, rapidly working to keep up with an ever-changing subject. The paintings for this exhibition reflect my inspired attempts to capture this beautiful landscape during the autumn months. David Atkins 2014

The Pantiles is the beautiful historic shopping area of Tunbridge Wells, believed to be the earliest of its type in Europe

The area is famous for its natural spring waters and Beau Nash who kept standards high in 1735 at a time when the collenade was frequented by the most prestigious London retailers, who in turn helped make the area the 'must visit' destination of its time. The Fairfax gallery is one of the longest established businesses on the Pantiles and the gallery offers a glimse of a time when the Pantiles was occupied by shops that wished to provide the highest standards in the Land.

The gallery offers its venue for hire for select events in Tunbridge Wells, please click for further details.
