ADAM HARGREAVES - SOLO EXHIBITION

17th - 29th September , 2011

adam hargreaves 1

Fairfax Gallery is proud to announce a solo exhibition of ‘Landscape’ paintings by Adam Hargreaves, affectionately known as the ‘Mr Happy’ of the art world. It has been a busy year for Adam with the 40th Anniversary of the Mr Men books celebrating some of the most recognisable images in the world.

The name Hargreaves has widely been associated with the Mr Men & Little Miss books, whose characters have entertained children and the child within us all since 1971 with the first book Mr Tickle, a character inspired by 8 year old Adam Hargreaves when he asked Roger his father ‘what does a tickle look like?’

Since 1988, Adam continued his father’s legacy, writing and illustrating Mr Men books. Having sold the business in 2004 Adam has rekindled his life long passion of painting, whilst still managing to write Mr Men books in his spare time.  It is Adam’s love of the countryside and its constant parade of subject matter that steals his attention now and inspires his latest series.
