Sarah Habgood Artist:
Goldsmiths’ College, University of London (Fine Art and History of Art).
First solo exhibition was at the Chelsea Gallery and resulted in a feature in The Guardian newspaper. Sara Habgood has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions throughout the UK and abroad, including shows such as AAF (London, Hong Kong, Singapore and New York) and 20/21 International Art Fair at the Royal College.
Many of Sarah Habgood’s paintings are executed in oil with gold and/or silver metal leaf which adds a luminous and ephemeral quality to the work. They are painted on aluminium, canvas and board. Some pieces have a high gloss resin finish (which, though beautiful to behold, are a little difficult to photograph because of the super shiny glasslike surface).
Birch Tree paintings capture the changing light and seasons in the woodland. The pieces are executed with an underpainting of acrylic, layering of metal leaf and then finished in oil to give depth and luminosity to the painting.
