Alison McWhirter – Artist Profile

Born in Dumfries, Scotland in 1975, Alison McWhirter pursued her passion for art at Bath Academy, where she earned a BA in Fine Art in 1998 and continued her education with a Postgraduate MA in Visual Culture in 2000. Bath Academy of Art, known for producing luminaries like Howard Hodgkin, provided a solid foundation for her vibrant painting style.

Professional Achievements

Since relocating to Glasgow in 2012, McWhirter’s works have been featured in prestigious exhibitions, including the Annual RGI show at the Royal Glasgow Institute in both 2012 and 2013. Her distinctive approach to color and form has led her to be recognized as ‘The New Scottish Colourist’ by The Scotland on Sunday in 2011 and celebrated by Homes and Interiors Magazine in 2012 as a leading contemporary Scottish Colourist.
