“As and artist, I am continually fascinated by the complexities and challenges the human figure provides. For me, the value of depicting the body lies not only in its technical hurdles, but also in the personal significance of representing such a private and yet universally familiar form.

Design and composition are of paramount importance to me, and I try to place the impact of my work on its graphic components. The abstract qualities of the body, its relative shapes, curves and lines, play a critical role, I believe that to achieve a harmonious interplay of such elements is to achieve visual and therefore emotional intensity.

I am interested in the way that space can be used to exploit not only the graphic qualities of an image, but also its narrative. In much of my current work I have viewed the edge as a boundary, using it to contain and confine the figure, creating an emphasis upon the tension within the space”. - Stephanie Rogers 2003
