Beckie Reed

Fairfax Gallery, Burnham Market takes great pleasure in announcing its forthcoming solo show featuring Beckie Reed. Beckie lives and paints in East
Anglia and takes her inspiration from the local countryside. Her work has gained considerable recognition and success in the UK and overseas.
Recently, Beckie has been immersed in a series of woodland paintings where high gloss enamel takes a fluid, natural form and is offset against a
background of delicate leaves and light dappled detail. Many intricate layers are built up to create beautiful, evocative paintings. The use of enamel as a
medium is the most challenging as once applied it can not be reworked. This shows the level of confidence in Beckie’s current work.
On her inspiration, she says ‘I feel incredibly lucky that I’m such a visual person. I get pleasure all the time from viewing my surroundings, even a
rusty old gate or some peeling paint. Itmight even just be the colour of a door or a mossy roof. I think light is crucial in a painting, it’s what brings it alive
and the enamel paint, being high gloss and shiny, reflects the light and adds an extra dimension to the work’.
Beckie graduated with a First Class Degree in Painting from Loughborough University. Although in her late twenties, she is already well established in the
UK and internationally. She has exhibited in New York, Chicago, Milan,Amsterdam, Brussels, Singapore and Toronto.

Solo Show 2nd - 16th June. Burnham Market

I live and paint in East Anglia and take a lot of inspiration from the local countryside, particularly in Norfolk and Suffolk. My work is continuously evolving as I experiment with new techniques. Currently I am using a lot of enamel paint and love the qualities it has. It gives an extra depth to the canvas when used alongside acrylic, creating bold contrast. I have been immersed in a series of tree and woodland paintings recently.
